Morning Mist and Natures Quiet Battle

This morning, on 1 August, I enjoyed my coffee in the silence, broken only by the now‑usual calls of the loons out on the lake. Dawn arrived with mist drifting over the water until the sun finally broke through and scattered it. I witnessed one of nature’s small dramas today: a skirmish between what I believe was a red‑breasted merganser and a crayfish. I don’t know who emerged victorious—perhaps neither did. The scene felt honest and elemental, a reminder of life in nature.
