Northern light

I went to Sandstangen at 3:30 last Monday morning because there was a small chance to see the Northern Lights, but I didn’t. When I got home and edited the photos, I discovered a faint trace of the Northern Lights in my pictures. So, what I thought would be just a reconnaissance trip actually gave me a few photos, mostly with light pollution, and an opportunity to learn for next time.

NM in photo 2025

I want to begin by congratulating my colleague in Moss Fotoklubb, Nina Jonsson, on winning the Norwegian Championship in photography. I placed in the middle of the pack among over 500 photographers. In the spring session, I had one picture accepted, and in the fall session, three pictures were accepted. These are my accepted pictures from both the spring and fall sessions.

The accepted pictures are: 1) Memory (digital monochrome), 2) Lighthouse Varnes (paper monochrome), and 3) Running on Marble (digital monochrome). From the spring session, it is Ringvannet (digital free color). My contribution for the fall session is shown below. I am very happy with the acknowledgment and look forward to the next competition.

Exploring Bohuslän

My weekend base was “Strandflickorna” in Lysekil, where I felt very comfortable. I rested well, enjoyed excellent service, and savored great food. Although the weather wasn’t ideal, it was still weather, and I took advantage of Lysekil’s diverse photo opportunities. I hope I managed to capture some of Lysekil’s unique spirit.

On my way back home, I made a stop at Fjällbacka and at “Munkkyrkan” in Grønemad, just north of Grebbestad. There are some cool natural formations there.

Going to Bohuslän

On my way to Lysekil the last Friday in October, I made stops at Elgåfossen and Smøgen. Elgåfossen is a beautiful waterfall on the border between Bohuslän (Sweden) and Østfold (Norway). I captured a couple of frames (black and white) there before continuing on to Smøgen to see if I could capture a photo of the colourful fishing huts on the pier.

Experimenting with fog

On Wednesday, I took an hour-long break from work and went for a wander with my camera, capturing photos in foggy conditions. I also experimented with some new editing techniques, and this is the result. I'm still exploring to find my way.
